1.What are the historical influences on this generation?

Civil Rights Movement-Dr. King came to Winona, MS. This lady was in high school when this took place. She said there a lot of people there to listen to his speech.

2.What impact did these historical influences have on this generation?

During this time, everything was separate including bathrooms and water fountains. Dr. King came to Winona to speak about voting rights. He came to make sure everyone registered to vote.

3.What are the core values of this generaion?

Families- everyone was always together. She grew up in a close-knit family. She had 7 brothers and 7 sisters. They instilled lots of values in her. Spiritual values were also very important to her. She also enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family and porch singings.

4.What is the value of education in this generation?

Great because now can't do anything without an education. She believes you should at least graduate high school, but she would like to see more people trying to further their education beyond high school.

5.What was the school day like for this generation?

They respected their teachers. There was no talking back.  When the teacher gave instructions, you did it. They also took pride in their education.

6. What did this generation think of their teachers?

They were good role models for them in the community. They were also good teachers.

7.What role did extracurricular activities play during this generation?

She stayed busy. She also recorded an album called This Is My Country. She attended choir competitions.

8. What was the work ethic of this generation?

They respected each other in the work place. Everyone did his or her job. You were a committed worker everyday.

9. What did this generation look for in a job?

She graduated from college and got a degree in social work. She believes college students are going through the same as they were during her time because it is hard for students to decide what field they want to go in. She said whatever your job may be, be the best that you can be. She also believes you should do your best in trying to impact someone's life.

10. What was the generation's leadership style?

Leaders effected changes, good leaders. They had some bad ones and some good ones. Sometimes you just have to find positive in all the negative.
